By some chance you've found
elfinpiper's writing journal. Turn back before I sick Thranduil's drunken Elves on you.
Hi, I'm Fizzing Wizard, I'm 20, in college, going to Japan very very soon, sometimes antisocial and a wearer of fluorescent orange nail polish.
Like so many others, I labor under the delusion that some day I will be famous for my writing. Not that I have a problem with the whole image of the "suffering artist." I'd just like to suffer in luxury, thanks. So as long as the fame doesn't come postmortem. Right. I like cold hard cash.
None of that matter right now, though, as I'm too stupid and silly to achieve such a lofty goal (I write crack lyrics to Arashi songs, what do you expect?). So I'll content myself with using this as my writing journal.
Currently reading: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
Books on hiatus: Birds Without Wings by Louis de Bernieres, The Tale of Genji by Murasaki Shikibu
Awesome Books of Epic Awesome: The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy, Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, Wild Swans by Jung Chan, Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
* Looking for some really good sci-fi/fantasy to read. Something fun but worth reading. Why do I ask? Because last time I browsed the sci-fi/fantasy section of my own volition, I went home with Kushiel's Scion. Which was, you know. Jacqueline Carey. I may have liked the earlier books in the series, if I'd realized it was a series when I bought it. But Scion was just awful. Two hundred pages into the book and absolutely nothing of consequence had happened. Imriel whines about being a virgin, talks about how great the previous books were, whines about being a virgin, makes a note that a dastardly political plot may be brewing, talks about how great the previous books were, whines about being a virgin, becomes Definitely Not a Virgin, and talks about how great the previous books were. Fascinating, right? I couldn't finish it.
